Hooker Sam Anderson-Heather has been scratched from tomorrow's Mitre 10 Cup championship final after failing to recover from a calf injury.

Anderson-Heather was bracketed in the team to play North Harbour at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin, but was ruled out this morning.

He will be replaced in the starting line-up by Sekonaia Pole, with veteran former All Black Andrew Hore drafted into the reserves.

Anderson-Heather sustained the injury during Otago's hard-fought semifinal against Bay of Plenty last Friday.

His injury, and the absence of Liam Coltman, who is on All Black duty, has left the hooking cupboard bare for Otago.

Coach Cory Brown was forced to call up Hore (38), who retired from first-class rugby at the end of the 2013 season but has been playing for his Maniototo club side in the Central Otago club competition.
