Rugby: Force humbled in UK tour match

The Western Force's five-week tour of the UK has ended on a sour note, losing by 41 points to English Premiership outfit Leicester Tigers at Welford Road in England overnight.

In front of 12,132 fans, Leicester, who boasted no less than 12 internationals, ran in seven tries to one to post the thumping 48-7 triumph.

Teenage star James O'Connor registered the Force's only try of the match in the 70th minute.

Force coach John Mitchell admitted Leicester's physicality was too much to handle for his young side.

"The spirit was great, the guys kept going," Mitchell said.

"We showed tremendous character throughout the match and Leicester looked very bright and very hungry.

"It was a good experience for our young guys, to come here and come up against a quality opposition and compete hard like they did."
