Rugby: Old Boys stay unbeaten

Old Boys completed the first round of the Citizens Shield rugby competition with an unbeaten record with a 49-5 win over Athletic Marist in Oamaru today.

Four wins and a draw have Old Boys nicely placed as they seek to win a sixth straight title.

In Kurow, the home side pulled away in the second half to beat Valley 40-12.

At Maheno, an in-form Maheno side kept Excelsior rooted to the bottom of the table with a 27-17 win.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
