Western Force midfielder Josh Tatupu and Wellington fullback Joe Hill have signed for Otago in the national provincial rugby competition this year.

Originally from Christchurch, Tatupu, 24, is a former Samoan league representative who made his Super 14 debut for the Force in 2008 against the Lions.

Hill, 21, played for Wellington in last year's provincial competition and was a member of the unbeaten New Zealand under-20 team that won the world title in Wales in 2008.

Both players arrive in Dunedin in June to join the Otago training squad for the ITM Cup.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
