Otago Boys' High School first XV winger Max Brown, son of former All Black prop Olo, is tackled by Timaru Boys' High School players Monty Nixon (left) and Finn Joyce at the annual interschool between the two schools on Littlebourne, Dunedin yesterday.

Otago Boys' won the match 36-5, after leading 14-0 at halftime.

After taking 10 minutes to settle, Otago Boys' gained the upper hand in the physical exchanges and was able to open up space for its backs. Openside flanker Taine Te Whata was strong with ball in hand and defended well, while lock Sean Jansen dominated the lineout and came up with some crucial steals under pressure.

Otago Boys' was dominant in the other games, too. Its junior basketball team won 75-46 and the senior team won 86-56.

The football teams claimed the double, too, the seniors winning 4-2 and the juniors 5-0. It also claimed a 5-0 win in squash and 5-3 win in chess, while its Colts rugby team won 54-23.

A 1-1 draw in hockey was all Timaru Boys' were able to salvage from the day.

Otago Boys' next interschool is against Christchurch Boys' High School on July 4.
