Bronze for Trembath

Andrew Trembath has claimed Otago's first medal at the national championships in Auckland.

The 20-year-old Neptune swimmer finished in 4min 28.60sec to claim bronze in the men's 400m individual medley.

He spent the majority of the race in third, steadily opening a gap from from North Shore's Callum Prime.

Bradlee Ashby won in 4min 18.68sec from Lewis Clareburt in 4min 21.05sec. Trembath also finished seventh in the 200m backstroke.

Jeremy Tasker went close in the 50m butterfly, swimming 25.33sec to finish fourth, just ahead of fellow Neptune swimmer Courtland Ellis in 25.37sec. Tasker also finished fifth in the 100m butterfly in 55.56sec.
