Let the championships begin

Mya Graham, of the QE2 Club, competes in the female 12+ 100m freestyle at the South Island Swimming Championships at Moana Pool last night.

The championships began yesterday morning and run until tomorrow night.

The event, which is open to swimmers 12 years and older, has attracted 266 of the top competitors from around the island.

Races begin at 8.30am and continue to noon, before a break until 4pm.

The majority of finals are held in the late sessions.
