3.8 magnitude quake hits Christchurch

A small 3.8 magnitude earthquake struck near Christchurch this morning.

The quake, which was centered near Rolleston about 20km west of Christchurch, struck at 8.19am on Friday.

Geonet says it had a depth of 7km.

More than 2550 people have so far indicated to Geonet that they felt it, with most classing it as 'weak' or 'light'.
