A 22-year-old man sought in relation to a shooting on a Christchurch bridge at the weekend has been found and charged with several offences.
He was taken into custody by Police in Christchurch this afternoon.
The man has been charged with a number of offences including wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and unlawful possession of a pistol.
He is due to appear in Christchurch District Court on Wednesday 8 January.
Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.
Emergency services were called to the incident, on the corner of Ferry Rd and Radley St in Woolston where a bridge crosses the Heathcote River, about 8.30pm on Sunday.
Police said a 29-year-old man was shot once in the shoulder. It's understood the shooter approached in a vehicle and the man shot was on the footbridge.
The victim is in hospital in a serious condition.
Armed police cordoned off the bridge on Sunday and took samples from bloodied clothing, but lifted the cordon by about 10pm.
