One dead after crash in Marshland

One person was killed when a car and truck collided at a Christchurch intersection last night.

The crash happened at the intersection of Marshland and Mairehau Rds just before 7.30pm on Monday.

Fire crews were called about 7.25pm, a Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said. No one was trapped in either vehicle.

It is understood the driver of the car died at the scene.

"Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash were ongoing," a police spokesperson said.

The area around the accident scene was blocked off last night and diversions were in place. The road was cleared this morning.
