Firefighters have battled an overnight blaze at the Eco-Drop on Parkhouse Rd in Christchurch.
Fire and Emergency NZ said the fire was reported just before 2.30am on Tuesday.
The blaze at the EcoDrop transfer station and recycling centre was "well involved" and four crews were needed to bring it under control.
Fenz said the fire covered an area of about 50m by 150m at the commercial building.
It was brought under control last night and any hotspots were being dampened down overnight.
