Fog at Christchurch Airport delays travel

Foggy conditions are delaying air travel in and out of Christchurch and Wellington.

On Tuesday morning, Air New Zealand's website says flight NZ8238 to Rotorua, NZ5330 from Christchurch and NZ8251 from Tauranga have been cancelled.

In Christchurch, NZ5741 to Dunedin and NZ5333 from Wellington have been cancelled.

Four other flights to and from Christchurch have been delayed. Check here for live flight information.

NZTA also urged motorists in Wellington to drive to the conditions, especially on State Highway 1 north of Johnsonville, on Ngauranga Gorge, the urban motorway and along State Highway 2 in Petone.

Wellington Airport advised travellers to contact their airline or check the airport's live flight information for the latest.

Seven Air New Zealand flights to or from Wellington have been delayed or diverted and three flights have been cancelled.
