A group of Sumner mums has teamed up with well-known potter Tatyanna Meharry to create "Mummy Mugs."

All proceeds from the ceramic coffee mugs, which are made with sand from Sumner Beach, go towards supporting mothers across the country battling postnatal depression.

Designer and mother of two Kat Gee said the group is on a mission to encourage other mums to take five minutes a day to relax, press pause and take a moment to "enjoy a cuppa."

"With one in five mums experiencing postnatal depression it is a very worthy cause to support," she said.

"We are proud to align with Plunket and support their efforts to be there for mums when they feel depressed or anxious."

She said she will be sending a mug to Jacinda Ardern, who inspired her to create the mugs when she said she loved having her large mug of tea on the go everyday.

Each mug is handglazed with a mix of both matte and shiny textures. They are dishwasher safe and hold 375ml.
