A person has been taken into custody after an alleged stabbing in North Canterbury.
A police spokeswoman said the incident happened in Peraki St, Kaiapoi about noon on Tuesday.
The victim was taken to Christchurch Hospital with critical injuries and is in a stable condition.
Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.
