Six alleged burglars have been arrested after being pursued by police in Christchurch overnight following a burglary in Lincoln.

Police were called to a burglary at Liquorland Lincoln about 1.15am on Monday.

The alleged offenders smashed through a door at the bottle store and stole an undisclosed amount of alcohol before driving off.

Shortly after, officers identified two vehicles understood to be involved in the burglary and a pursuit was initiated before being called off about 2am.

A police spokeswoman said the alleged offenders were spotted again in Shirley, about 50 minutes later and another pursuit was initiated. Spikes were deployed to stop the vehicles.

One vehicle was stopped on North Pde in Shirley and the other on Fitzgerald Ave.

Six people were arrested and a large amount of the stolen alcohol recovered, she said.

A Facebook post by Liquorland Lincoln said the store would be closed on Monday morning while it is tidied up.

"Police have done a wonderful job and collected them so I’m sure they will be having a fun chat this morning," the post said.

It is unclear what charges the alleged offenders would face.
