A major show set to take place at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens has been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Botanic D’Lights 2020 Tīrama winter show, which features illuminated artworks and light installations and is usually held every two years, was set to start in August.

But it is now being planned for June 2021, says Mary Richardson, who is leading the Christchurch City Council’s Covid-19 incident management team.

She said the revised date will depend on how the situation develops, with the council continuing to take advice from the Ministry of Health.

"The council is following the Government’s advice and cancelling or postponing future events until the situation becomes clearer.

“We will be working closely with the artists, contractors and sponsors who are involved in this event on re-arrangements for next year.”
