Four injured in intersection collision; crash blocks SH73

Four people were injured in a crash at a North Canterbury intersection on Wednesday morning.

Police were called to the collision involving three vehicles at the intersection of Mill and Ashworths Rds near Leithfield about 9.30am.

A St John spokesperson said four people were treated for injuries.

Three had minor injuries and one person with moderate injuries was taken to Christchurch Hospital.

Meanwhile, an early morning crash partially blocked a section of State Highway 73 at Castle Hill, south of the intersection with Castle Hill Drive.

A Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency spokesperson said stop/go traffic management was in place at the scene.

"Take extra care whilst travelling along this route."

The road was temporarily closed on Wednesday so the vehicle could be recovered, the spokesperson said.
