Person dead after boating incident near Kaiapoi

    One person has died following a boating incident in North Canterbury this morning.

    A police spokesperson said they were notified of the incident near Kaiapoi about 7.30am on Wednesday.

    The death has been referred to the Coroner, police said.

    "Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances."
