The madness and mayhem of What Now hit Kaiapoi North School last Sunday morning.

The New Zealand children's television programme was produced live at the school, aided by a crowd of excited children who were encouraged to scream for the cameras during the ''foaming'', ''gunging'' and other antics.

School principal Jason Miles said it was lovely to have What Now on site.

''They brought the whole set for the show with them. It is amazing. The children have been very excited about it. Every child likes the idea that they might be on television.''

It was a big day for Clarkville singer Ellie Shaw, aged 10, who won the event's sKids Singing Sensations national competition. She went up against three other finalists from around New Zealand.
