The Community Wellbeing North Canterbury Trust will be out and about in the community over the next month.

With spring in the air, trust manager Deirdre Ryan says October is a good chance for people to get out and enjoy their community.

She says the trust has already been out at both the Kaiapoi River Wellbeing Walk and the North Canterbury Business Expo, and will be present at the Soroptomist Fair on October 22, and the Rangiora and Amberley A&P shows.

''We are out and about, so people can come and meet us and find out about us.

''What we have been wanting to do is build relationships with the community and we want to contribute to a thriving community, and people thrive when their wellbeing is strong.''

In recent years the trust has marked Community Wellbeing Week in October to raise the profile of the trust, wellbeing in the community, and some much-needed funds.

With a new marketing and communications person, Louise Leitch, having joined the team, Deirdre says the trust is reviewing how it can promote its presence in the community.

''We are thinking strategically about how we are raising our profile in our local community,'' Louise says.

''Is calling it something like 'Community Wellbeing Month', which is a collection of activities in the community, the best approach, rather than connecting it with an international or national event?

''And does a month of activities mean something to the community?''

The trust is also hosting its annual meeting on October 23 from 4.30pm in the Rangiora Town Hall function centre and a fundraising concert with former international cricketer and coach John Wright and the Sou'Westers on November 1.

''We are uniquely North Canterbury, so come along to our AGM and find out more about your trust,'' Deirdre says.

The trust celebrated its 30th anniversary last year and continues to offer a range of services, including the community pantry in Kaiapoi, family counselling, youth drug and alcohol counsellors, social workers, restorative justice and the Karanga Mai Early Learning Centre, which offers support for young parents.

Thanks to community support, the trust is able to offer its services at no cost to recipients.
