A Canterbury rugby club's base has been put on the back of a truck and will be moved to its new home on Monday night.

The Rolleston Rugby Football Club's clubrooms building will be moved to its new home at Foster Park at 10.30pm.

The move will be undertaken by Laing Properties, which will transport the clubrooms on the back of a truck in two sections from Rolleston Reserve to Foster Park.

The building will be re-homed near the rugby fields and new Foster Park changing rooms about midnight.

Once the building is in place, more work will be needed to ensure it is compliant and to install a concrete patio and other surrounding landscaping work. This is expected to take six to eight weeks.

Work is also under way on the final stages of the upgrades to the south-west part of Foster Park.

McLenaghan Contracting has started on a new car park area off Dynes Rd, which will provide 82 new parking spaces.

This will bring the total number of car parks at Foster Park to 475.

It comes after the brand new $1.4 million changing rooms at Foster Park were opened last month.

An eight-court indoor facility, due to open in winter next year, is also set to be built at Foster Park.
