Two pedestrians are seriously injured after being hit by a car near Leeston in Canterbury's Selwyn District on Friday night.
Police were called to the Harts and Leeston Rds intersection about 7.40pm, they said in a statement.
Harts Rd was closed while emergency services were at the scene.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
