The drivers of two cars are injured after a crash in The Catlins this morning.

Emergency services were called to the two-car collision in Kaka Point Rd, near the intersection with Factory Rd, at 10.50am today.

Police said one driver has a suspected head injury and other has a possible fractured limb and chest pains.

No other people were in the vehicles.

Police said it was too early to tell what caused the collision, but did not believe that speed was a factor.

The cars were partially blocking the southbound lane and tow trucks had been requested.

Diversions are in place.
