Hunter in city street prompts police call

A sighting in Dunedin of a person preparing to go hunting prompted a call to police this afternoon.

A police spokeswoman said a person reported witnessing someone with what appeared to be a firearm heading towards Bay View Rd, along Tedder St, about 1.15pm.

''The person could not confirm it was a firearm but said they saw the person as they drove by.

A police spokeswoman said inquiries established it was a man loading his firearm into a vehicle to go hunting on private property.
