At the club cricket level, the third round of the two-day metro premiership continues with day two on Saturday. Early competition leaders St Albans will hope to extend their gap at the top in a low scoring affair with winless Heathcote. From an individual stand-point former Canterbury contracted player Nathan McNicol will be on the hunt for his first career 10-wicket match when Lancaster Park resume on 11/3. The East Christchurch Shirley bowler took eight wickets on the opening day. All games resume at 10.30am.

The annual Rolleston Rugby League Nines tournament takes place on Saturday at Foster Park. Seven teams, including defending champions the Riccarton Knights, will vie for this year’s title. Pool play starts at 10am.
