Canterbury driver Jaden Ransley has held onto the Toyota 86 Championship series lead after round two at Highlands Motosport Park in Cromwell.

Two wins and second place after three superb races netted Peter Vodanovich the round win on Sunday.

But a dramatic win in the final race left Ransley, who lives in Prebbleton, on 411 points after two rounds, with Vodanovich in second on 393 points and former series leader, Australian Jaylyn Robotham, just a whisker behind on 391.

The third race in Cromwell was the highlight of the weekend and saw Ransley deny Vodanovich a third straight win after an epic three-way fight.

Ransley, who was chasing Vodanovich all weekend, made a great pass on lap eight of the 12 lap race and raced home to win the thriller.

"We were all really close through the whole race," said Ransley.

"I was hoping that my car was going to come on while Peter’s car got worse.

"I got an opportunity after the bridge to get past Peter and took it with open arms."
