Fur Patrol back on the road with ‘Pet’

Kiwi rockers Fur Patrol have finally hit the road on their postponed tour celebrating the 21st anniversary of their landmark debut album, Pet.

Fiery front woman Julia Deans will be joined by bandmates Simon Braxton (drums) and Andrew Bain (bass) for their Dunedin show on Friday, at Dive, when they will play Pet in its entirety. They will be supported by Death and the Maiden.

In April 2021, Fur Patrol released the 20th-anniversary vinyl reissue of Pet, which spawned five singles, including Andrew, Holy, the chart-topping Lydia and previously "hidden" track Bottles & Jars.

After the tour being rescheduled three times due to Covid-19 restrictions, Fur Patrol are finally taking the record on the road.

"We're so looking forward to reloading and playing these songs live again ... it's been a minute," Deans said.

Fur Patrol first made their mark in 1998 with their EP Starlifter.

But it was Pet and its hit songs such as Lydia — the most played song on New Zealand radio in 2000 — that really propelled them into the limelight.
