About $800 was raised for mental health organisation Wellness, Empathy, Kindness Aotearoa (Weka) on Saturday at annual event The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever.

About 75 people dressed in red and filled The Octagon with dance in the exotic style seen in the music video for British pop singer Kate Bush’s song Wuthering Heights, which was a No 1 hit in New Zealand and a chart-topper around the world when released in 1978.

This year’s event was particularly special as it was held on Kate Bush’s 64th birthday.

The singer has been in the news recently due to her 1985 song Running Up That Hill returning to the top of music charts around the world due to it featuring in the latest season of Netflix television series Stranger Things

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

You can help us continue to bring you local news you can trust by becoming a supporter.
