Wellington guitarist and YouTube sensation Nick Granville performs at the Dunedin Jazz Club this Saturday night with his organ trio, featuring Michael Crawford on the keys and Carl Woodward on the drums.

Jazz club director Bill Martin joins the ensemble in the second set on the tenor saxophone.

Granville is one of New Zealand’s premier guitarists, whether it be performing in his own combos, recording in the studio as a session musician, comping with big bands or playing in the pit for shows.

He has recorded six CDs as a band leader and has performed with many famous musicians around the world.

Granville has a considerable online profile and presence due to his pioneering work as a guitarist and educator, offering lessons, gear demos, tutorials and performances.

In more recent times, he has been exploring the organ trio idiom.

For this special performance, Granville is joined by long-term bandmate Crawford on the organ and Woodward on the drums.

Originally from Dunedin, Crawford grew up playing the piano and clarinet in this city, but has developed his career through time at the New Zealand School of Music, playing on cruise ships and gigging in London.

Currently working on a PhD in music, he is in hot demand as a jazz musician and producer for all genres of music.

The show will be held this Saturday, July 16, from 7.30pm at Hanover Hall.

Tickets are available from Eventfinda and are limited to 150.

The jazz club is a licensed venue and patrons are encouraged to wear masks.
