Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz) is revoking the restricted fire season in the Queenstown Lakes fire zone in Otago from 8am tomorrow.
Residents in the Queenstown zone would no longer need to have a fire permit approved by Fenz to light a fire outdoors.
Otago district manager Phil Marsh said recent rain and cooler autumn temperatures had seen the fire risk drop below thresholds that required ongoing fire permitting restrictions.
