Armed police and a dog squad surrounded a central Christchurch property this morning.
One person has been arrested. Police are seeking a second person and inquiries are under way to locate them.
Officers were called to a property on Bealey Ave, near Churchill Rd and Barbadoes St, just before 8am on Wednesday, a police spokesperson said.
Police at the scene were seen with shields and a battering ram.
It is not clear why they were wanted by police.
"Officers were sent to the property after receiving information two people with warrants for their arrest had been seen there."
Staff were armed as a precaution, the police spokesperson said.
The officers have now been stood down.
