Suspicious fire destroys van in Chch car park

A van was completely "destroyed" in a suspicious fire outside a Christchurch indoor bowls centre on Monday morning.

Firefighters were called to the suspicious blaze in the Canterbury Indoor Bowls Association car park on Kearneys Rd in Wainoni at 6.41am.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman Brent Dunn said the van was "well ablaze" by the time a crew from the Woolston station arrived at the scene.

He said the fire has been deemed suspicious. Police are now investigating the incident.
