A large contingent of uniformed police officers descended on a private residence in Barrington St, Spreydon on Monday.
Part of the street was blocked up around 11am while police carried out their operation.
Police confirmed a number of items were located and seized a modified pistol, crossbow, and a sum of money from the property.
Two men - aged 34 and 41 - were taken away and charged with a range of offences, including unlawful possession of a firearm and drug charges.
A specialist paramedic was on hand in case of a medical emergency.
The police operation was largely completed by 11.40am on Monday, allowing traffic to return to normal around the busy thoroughfare.
