Man charged over university theft

Police have charged a 61-year-old former University of Otago employee in relation to the alleged theft of money from the institution.

Detective Sergeant Brett Roberts said the man was charged yesterday with accessing a computer system for dishonest purposes.

He was released on bail and would appear in the Dunedin District Court "in due course".

Investigations were continuing, Det Sgt Roberts said.

Further charges could be laid. He believed about $250,000 was involved.
