It's not easy getting on to your stilts.
Stiltwalkers put on their costumes, rolling up the long legs,
then sit on top of a car to strap their stilts on.
Shoes are attached to the stilts and thick, padded straps
attached to the walkers' knees.
Then the performers have to be hauled up from the car.
Once on their "feet", they keep moving to balance.
Juliette McMullan (13, above) and (right) Sarah Tyrrell (16)
rehearse under the direction of Juliet Novena Sorrel, herself
once a stiltwalker.
The costumes were designed and made by fashion designer Fieke
Neuman.
