The Last of Us: Left Behind

Not only one of the best Playstation 3 games made, The Last of Us is one of the best games ever made, full stop.

The Last of Us: Left Behind

For: Playstation 3

From: Naughty Dog

Four and a half stars (out of five)

It's a perfect combination of brilliant storytelling, superb gameplay and stunning graphics.

If you've got a PS3 and haven't played it slap yourself and go and get it tomorrow.

And play it before you download and play Left Behind, its first DLC add-on.

For those who haven't played the original, I won't go into too much plot detail as it'll spoil the experience, but basically The Last of Us tells the story of mis-matched couple Joel and Ellie as they battle to survive in a futuristic, zombie-filled wasteland.

Left Behind takes place before the goings-on in the main game and tells the story of Ellie, her best friend Riley and her life before she met Joel.

The relationship between the two girls and its development over time is the central part of the game.

As you explore the stunning locations, solve puzzles and try to survive, Ellie's character evolves and changes from a fragile young girl into more of the serious teenager we know from the original game.

As in the Last of Us, the storytelling is superb and the game is, if anything, even more beautiful to look at than the original.

Finishing the original is not essential to playing Left Behind, but trust me, your experience will be all the better for it if you do.

This is an essential purchase for anyone with a PS3 - it's that good.
