A drought is threatening to turn into a downpour for Dunedin music fans, with confirmation another headline-grabbing show is heading to the city.

Broods - Nelson siblings Caleb and Georgia Nott - will perform at the Dunedin Town Hall on November 7, it was confirmed yesterday.

Another big show, Sole Mio, is to perform there on March 4 next year, it was learned last week.

Sole Mio hit the headlines following the release of its self-titled album late last year, while Broods has been on a rapid rise to stardom in the past year.

The band has completed sold-out tours of New Zealand, the United States and Britain, and its album Evergreen, released last month, is No 1 on the New Zealand albums chart.

It has also signed with United States-based Capitol Records, whose stable of artists and material includes Katy Perry and the Beatles.

Dunedin Venues Management Ltd chief executive Terry Davies said he was delighted to announce more top acts for the city.

In recent weeks, DVML has secured Rod Stewart's only South Island show for Forsyth Barr Stadium, scheduled for April 11 next year.

The Dunedin Town Hall would also play host to performances by Lorde on October 29 and Jimmy Barnes on November 29.

Much of the recent success has been attributed to DVML's efforts to forge a closer working relationship with two Melbourne music promoters, Frontier Touring and Dainty Group.

That work was continuing, but the string of concert announcements also showed the town hall was a venue of international quality, Mr Davies said.

Tickets for Broods will be on sale from October 6. Sole Mio's tickets will be on sale on October 7.
