Black Sabbath have confirmed they'll be touring one last time - and have added Dunedin to their world tour.

The veteran rockers announced overnight that they'll embark on The End world tour at the beginning of 2016 in the United States.

The tour includes two New Zealand shows: Dunedin's Forsyth Barr Stadium on April 30 and Auckland's Vector Arena on April 28.

The group, including original members Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler, promised "to surpass all previous tours with their most mesmerizing production ever".

"When this tour concludes, it will truly be the end - the end of one of most legendary bands in Rock 'n Roll history," a statement posted on the group's website said.

On sale dates and details are expected to be released next week.

Black Sabbath last played in New Zealand in 2013 just before the release of album 13.
