Me doing a few push-ups
Week 3 Day 7: It's Monday and I'm still feeling the ill
effects of a weekend of drinking alcohol and eating terrible
but oh so yummy food. Safe to say I wasn't looking forward to
this workout because I knew I would suffer . . . major
understatement!
I've spent many a Sunday morning sitting on my front porch
with damp cloth on head, an icy cold glass of water with head
pounding from the previous night and promising myself and
witnesses around me that I'd never drink again! (Well except
for two weeks from now when one of my best friends gets
married in Wanaka. It's going to be a blast!)
But after that I'm done. Seriously. At least while I'm doing
TribeFIT anyway, it's just not worth it!
So this week I was told that we would be focusing more on
weights, which I'm looking forward to for two reasons:
One: I get to try different exercises and two: my strength is
quite low so I feel it would help out in that area for sure.
And my bingo wings! Those things that I reserve especially
for my clients when I'm blow-drying their hair. I wave
goodbye to people and my arm flab continues waving long after
their departure. It's one of the parts of my body that I
would be so happy if I could change, and I've been told that
resistance exercise with weights is good for that so I'm
looking forward to that.
Here was today's workout:
We started the session with a new warm-up that was making me
laugh. Alannah had us running on the spot, knees up high then
ordered us to drop and do push-ups . . . we were getting the
drill sergeant treatment but for some reason I couldn't stop
laughing!
But then the real work began . . .
- 10 reps of heavy weights
- 15 reps of lighter weights
- 20 reps of kettlebell swings (plus lift up to chest)
- 30 reps of push-ups
- 40 wall balls (squatting down and then coming up and
throwing a medicine ball at the wall)
- this five times as fast as we could!
It may look pretty simple but it's tough . . . really tough,
not to mention the fact that I was still feeling the effects
from Saturday night plus my arms were still aching from
Friday's workout from doing those chin-ups.
One of the things that is really peeing me off at the moment
is trying to get my technique right. I'm really struggling in
that area and I feel as though I'm the only one who can't do
the exercises and it does get me down a little, but I know
that if I give it my best I can only improve so I'm getting
there guys!
Well, I've got my friend's wedding coming up and it is the
exact motivation I need!
So bring on Wednesday!
