HortTalk: Information Centre, lower garden, Dunedin Botanic Garden, midday. Speaker Dr Geoff Rogers, research associate, Department of Conservation on ''How did we get here? ... New Zealand's flora''. Isolation, tectonic upheaval, and big birds have helped shape New Zealand's flora.

Otago Lily Society meeting, 2pm at Maori Hill Community Centre. Russell Bailey, a top lily grower and exhibitor will speak on ''Living with Kidney Disease'' and will have a limited number of his lily bulbs for sale.

Blueskin Garden Club will be at the Blueskin On Show Day, 10am to 4pm, Bland Park, Waitati. Competitions, sales table and raffles. Vegetable, fruit, preserves, baking and floral competitions.
