Bayfield High School

• Andrew Baldwin (23)
Associate of Trinity College, London, in voice; BMusHons first class.

Is temping and tutoring in Auckland to save money for postgraduate studies overseas. Baldwin was accepted into a composition masters course at the Royal College of Music in London but unable to take his place because of the international fees of $30,000 a year. He hopes to go next year.

He has received commissions from ensembles throughout New Zealand and was composer-in-residence at Wellington Cathedral for two years. Since 2008, he has been section leader in the New Zealand Youth Choir, which recently toured Asia and Australia.

Works at Cashmere Avenue School, Wellington, as a new entrants-year one teacher. She won the Dunedin Star's 2006 role model award for her volunteer work at Youthline Otago.

After receiving a string of scholarships while studying, Carruthers now works as an advertising sales consultant for The Southland Times-Newslink in Gore.

Is based in Central Otago, in her final year of study towards a bachelor of nursing degree and applying for nursing jobs in New Zealand and Australia.

Is a solicitor at Lowndes Jordan, in Auckland, doing general commercial and property-related work.

Is a change analyst in the project management team at the Royal Bank of Scotland, Edinburgh.

Is in Kolkata, India, working as a volunteer for Freeset, which offers freedom to women in forced prostitution.

The organisation employs women to make fair trade T-shirts and bags, giving them an economic alternative to the sex trade. He and his wife will return to New Zealand next month.

Dunstan High School

• Brendan Connor (24)
BA in philosophy; BA (hons) in politics and philosophy.

Is studying for a master's degree in European politics at the University of Oxford, focusing on public opinion about the European Union.

Over the northern summer, he is backpacking around China.

Diploma in communication arts and design.

Works for Wompro, a promotional products company in Melbourne, doing graphic design and finished art.

East Otago High School

• Joshua Freeman (25)
Bachelor of pharmacy.

Is a pharmacist at Dunedin Hospital and studying for a postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy through the University of Otago.

Freeman was elected to the Otago University Students Association executive in 2007, later appointed to the university senate and this year was elected chairman of Bowls Dunedin.

Gore High School

• Melissa Broughton (nee Goodwin) (24)
B bursary.

Is a rural banking consultant at the National Bank in Gore.

She and her husband have a 5-month-old son and lease a 260ha property near Gore where they run sheep and graze dairy calves.

• Tanya Morrison (25)
Bachelor consumer applied science in consumer food science (BCapSc).

Is office manager for Kaan's Catering Supplies, in Dunedin, a position which also involves sales.

A member of the Otago Sparks women's cricket team since 2003, she took last year off but plans to get back into cricket this year.

John McGlashan College

Bachelor of commerce and agriculture.

After working on a cattle station in northern Queensland, he has returned to the family farm at Clarks Junction.

• Herman Visagie (24)
LLB, BCom (international business); diploma in Chinese language.

Spent five months working and studying in China at the end of his time at university.

He is employed at the Ministry of Economic Development, Wellington, as a policy analyst working on telecommunications policy.

Kaikorai Valley College

Is teaching English in Huizhou, China, and studying Mandarin in the hope it will help with future employment.

She hopes to get involved in human rights work with non-governmental organisations.

Is studying towards his MA in history at Otago.

His thesis is about community formation in a colonial port town, focusing on Port Chalmers from 1860 to 1875.

He plays bass in the Dunedin City Jazz Orchestra, the Julian Temple Band and Entropy Trio and has made two albums.

Is an occupational therapist for Dunedin Home Support Services, overseeing programmes for young people who are on the autistic spectrum or who have intellectual or physical disabilities.

Playing throughout the South Island as DJ Marze, Leoni has performed with Young Sid and Smashproof, Devolo (Deceptikonz), Dei Hamo, Scribe, DJ Sirvere and DJ Shan (S. A. S).

Completed legal professional studies and admitted to the Bar last month.

Works for the Ministry of Justice at the Palmerston North Family Court as a court registry officer.

Commercial pilot's licence.

Is a first officer for Eagle Airways, an Air NZ Link subsidiary and based in Blenheim, flying the Beech 1900D airliner around New Zealand.

He made the semifinals of a World Series C1 kayaking race last year and plans to paddle the Zambezi River, in Africa.

BSc in genetics; BA hons first class in politics.

Is about to start studying for a master's degree in politics, economics and philosophy at the University of Hamburg, having received a DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) scholarship.

He spent six months studying at the Warsaw School of Economics, in Poland, and has continued making short films as a hobby.

Otago Boys High School

Diploma in personal training and exercise prescription.

Is a personal trainer and electromyography (EMG) practitioner at Dunedin's Body Synergy Gym.

He was in the New Zealand bobsleigh team in 2008 and plays rugby for Otago B.

BA hons; MB BS (medical bachelor and bachelor of surgery).

Studied medicine at Cambridge University and St George's University of London (although his degree at Cambridge was a science one, he graduated with a BA as the university does not award BSc degrees).

He now works for the UK's National Health Service as a house officer at Worthing Hospital, on the south coast of England.

Otago Girls High School

BCom in finance and marketing.

Is the studio manager at Bobbi Brown in Selfridges, Oxford St, London, which has the biggest cosmetics department in Europe.

Maghsodi manages the number one Bobbi Brown account in the country and recently worked backstage at New Zealand Fashion Week.

Bachelor of commerce; postgraduate diploma in primary teaching.

Teaches year 5 pupils at Elmwood Normal Primary School, in Christchurch.

She played for the Otago women's rugby team for three years and for the Samoan women's rugby team in 2006.

Queens High School

Bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery.

Is a junior doctor employed by the Canterbury District Health Board, working mainly at Christchurch Hospital.

During her final-year medical elective, she worked at hospitals in Peru and Scotland.

Her Latin fire dance team is one of two New Zealand teams selected to perform at the 2011 Sydney Salsa Congress.

Works in the quality department of Comvita, a natural health product manufacturer in Te Puke.

She competed in the world university rowing champs in 2004 and the under-23 world champs for three years as part of the New Zealand women's quad, placing fifth in 2006 and 2008.

Is a physiotherapist in the physiotherapy outpatients department at Dunedin Hospital, a committee member of the Otago branch of Physiotherapy New Zealand and captains the Pirates women's rugby team.

The Catlins Area School

BA in design studies; graduate diploma secondary teaching.

Recently started his own graphic design business in Melbourne.

• Melanie Reid (24)
Diploma in travel tourism and business; diploma in human resource management; bachelor of commerce (majoring in human resource development).

Has been accepted for an HR internship by Canterbury University and is waiting on a placement in Christchurch.

She is also a volunteer mentor with the Big Brothers Big Sisters organisation.

Bachelor of surveying with distinction.

Is a surveyor in the Mosgiel office of The Otago Surveying Company and working towards becoming a licensed cadastral surveyor in the next year.

He was awarded the Beca Surveying Scholarship in 2006, won the Land Information NZ surveying prize in 2007 and is a FutureInTech ambassador, promoting surveying as a career in Dunedin schools.

Is studying French at third-year level at Otago and hoping to undertake a graduate diploma in teaching (secondary) next year.

Is part-owner, operator and manager of Subway Andersons Bay and was South Island Subway Manager of the Year in 2008.

BA hons in politics; master's in international studies.

Went to Budapest, Hungary, on a student exchange and is now working as a guide on Fox Glacier.

He hopes to work in international development.

Waitaki Boys High School

Lives in Dunedin and is planning a holiday in Europe. Once back, he will look for a job in accounting.

Lives in Oamaru, where he works for the Alliance Group, making leather out of lambskins.

He previously worked at a summer camp in the United States and won the Nola Speir Award for Musical Theatre in 2008.
