Gaining a business award for its efforts in China is
"fantastic recognition" for Dunedin production company NHNZ,
chief executive Michael Stedman says.
NHNZ won the Cosco business excellence award at the 2011
Cathay Pacific NZCTA China Trade Awards in Auckland on
Thursday night.
The awards, held every two years, were established in 2004 by
the New Zealand China Trade Association to recognise
companies which have launched successful business
relationships between New Zealand and China, or have created
successful investments in China.
The 2011 supreme trade award went to Gallagher Security, part
of the Hamilton-based Gallagher Group.
NHNZ has been producing documentaries about China's history,
culture, and engineering achievements since 1999 and
established an office in Beijing 12 years ago.
The stories in the documentaries had been largely untold, Mr
Stedman said in a statement last week.
"To have been able to take truly remarkable stories about
China to relatively uninformed markets in the US and Europe
has been extremely gratifying."
NHNZ had also produced the five-part series New Zealand
Journeys: the Chinese in New Zealand, which has aired
nine times in China to a total audience of 300 million, Mr
Stedman said.
