New board appointment to ESR

Oritain Global chief executive Dr Helen Darling has been appointed to the board of the Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR).

Science and Innovation Minister Steven Joyce recently announced several appointments to the boards of New Zealand's Crown Research Institutes.

Dr Darling has a PhD in public health from the University of Otago and an MA from Victoria University. ESR was a ''very interesting'' Crown Research Institute, the board was experienced, there were good people to learn from, and the areas it was working in related to what she was passionate about, she said.

She was also excited about the opportunity to experience high-level governance.

Oritain Global has been pioneering commercial food origin systems since its inception in 2008.
