O'Neill Devereux practice manager Dave Fleming (above, left) and law firm partner Joe O'Neill toast the firm's new office in Dunedin last night with a wine and a beer.

Partner Mike O'Neill last night confirmed that about 20 staff from the law firm had begun working in the new office space on the ground-level floor of the former Lone Star building, at 433 Princes St, on August 31.

Scores of well-wishers attended the office warming celebration last night.

The upper storey had been renovated, too, and would be fitted out when that level was leased, Mr O'Neill said.

The renovation had come within budget but he declined to reveal how much had been spent.

''We'll keep it between us and the builders.''

Partner Joe O'Neill said the company moved from its former premises at 248 High St because it had outgrown it.

The refurbishment had taken eight months and the new office was ''great''.

''It's built for us and it has exactly what we want. It all works.''
