Three Otago commercial properties have been nominated for the Property Council's annual awards.
In Dunedin, the $6.3million Te Pa, University of Otago Childcare Centre has been nominated for the Education and Arts Property Award.
In Queenstown, The Remarkables base building, a $23million facility completed last June, and Queenstown Airport's $12million international terminal extension were both nominated for the Tourism and Leisure Property Award.
The Remarkables project was hampered by spring snowfalls in the early stages of its construction in 2014, and weather conditions in June prevented the fitting of the last of its huge windows.
Then in January this year severe winds battered the new base building, shattering dozens of windows and causing at least $100,000 worth of damage.
In June 2014, the University of Otago opened its ‘‘state-of-the-art'' child care centre, which caters to the infants and young children of staff and students.
The new facility in Castle St previously accommodated 11 buildings, which were largely demolished, but the facades of original villas on the site were preserved to retain parts of the historic streetscape.
Queenstown Airport's terminal expansion was the first stage of a three-stage, 4080sqm development which more than doubled the international area and extended the terminal size by about a third.
There are 11 categories in the awards and several of more than 80 buildings have multiple nominations. The presentation will be held in Auckland on June 17.
