Matt Kenseth emerged as the Daytona 500 champion, holding off
Dale Earnhardt Jr on the final lap to win an incident-packed
race under floodlights.

NASCAR pushed the start of its season-opening Daytona 500 to
Monday night (local time), under the lights and in primetime
for the first time in its history.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. left Daytona frustrated and furious last
July. One of his favourite tracks, the place forever linked
to his family name, had become a bore.
Instead of leading the field to the green flag in the Daytona
500, Dale Earnhardt Jr. will start from the back of the pack
after wrecking his primary race car in practice.
