A short police pursuit ended when the car being chased crashed in Dunedin early yesterday.
Senior Sergeant Bruce Ross said the pursuit began about 5.10am yesterday, when a car with two people in it failed to stop for police on South Rd, Dunedin.
"After a short chase it crashed," he said.
The 18-year-old male driver was not injured and was arrested at the scene, but a male passenger managed to "take off" on foot and elude police, he said.
"Police are still making inquiries as to who the passenger was," he said.
