Neither recent bad weather nor re-tendered carpentry contracts have resulted in changes to the completion date for Dunedin's Forsyth Barr Stadium, Carisbrook Stadium Trust chairman Malcolm Farry said yesterday.
The project was within its budget and "will be completed on time".
Mr Farry was responding to questions from the Otago Daily Times after a run of bad weather and a delay in signing the contract.
An April report to the Dunedin City Council said the tenders for carpentry at the stadium had come back significantly over budget, which meant the trust had to go back to the market to try to negotiate a more acceptable price.
It emerged last week the contract had been let to Auckland company Wallace Construction.
Asked if the delays with the carpentry contract had caused problems with the construction timetable, Mr Farry said progress on the stadium so far had been "at or above expectations".
"The re-tendering of the carpentry contract allowed us to obtain a better financial outcome. No delays have been caused by the re-tendering."
Delays occurred on all projects of the size of the stadium, but "in this case there has been no effect on the overall completion date".
"The construction programme has some flexibility built into the timing to allow for unforeseen circumstances and still ensure the final completion date is met."
Weather had been factored into the overall construction programme.
No penalty payments had been required at any point because of delays.
"Costs to date remain within the overall budget set by the Dunedin City Council, and the project will be completed on time."
