The harbour mouth molars in Portsmouth Dr are now
illuminated at night.
Each large wisdom tooth, made of concrete and Oamaru stone
and weighing 6.5 tonnes, has had a floodlight placed beneath
it.
The controversial sculpture by Regan Gentry was paid for by
the Dunedin City Council under its art in public places
programme.
The lights were funded by an anonymous benefactor.
In their short life - the molars were only installed in April
- they have been the targets of graffiti and have been
decorated with a Santa hat left there by the "tooth fairy".
