Anderson's Bay School has had a triple dose of double-trouble - the Dunedin school now has three sets of new entrant twins.
The new arrivals bring the school's twin count to four sets.
Teacher Emily Armstrong said it was "pretty unusual" to have that many twins starting at a school.
"We had one set last year, but this is three sets - and all boys," she said.
Liam and Brodie Ramsay and Josh and Nic George are in the school's preparation class for one hour a week and will start at the school soon, while Lewis and Oliver Garden started late last year.
Teaching twins was no different from other pupils, as they were often very individual and did not often play pranks, Mrs Armstrong said.
"You just have to look at them more closely. Maybe when they are older they will get up to tricks."
Dominic George said being twins was no big deal to his boys.
"They are very, very different; chalk and cheese really. They do their own thing and they don't really identify themselves as twins."
Lewis and Oliver said it was "cool" having a brother at school with them, but not as good as having their birthday party on the same day.
